Catholic Prayers

(*Please note we will be adding more prayers, so check back soon.*)

"O Lord Jesus, Who hast said, "by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love, one for another," grant us, we beseech Thee, an active share in Thine Own zeal for souls.

Pray the Most Holy Rosary every day.

October is the month of the Holy Rosary

"One day through the Rosary and the Scapular I will save the World"

The Blessed Virgin Mary told St. Dominic this.

Why is it important to say the Rosary as opposed to saying other Prayers The Blessed Mother said at Fatima in the year 1917, "I am the Lady of the Rosary. Pray the rosary every day to obtain peace for the world." After each decade to add the following prayer:

"O my Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy."

You may also add the St. Michael after prayer each decade as well if you wish.

Padre Pio said, "The Rosary is the weapon."

How do you say the Rosary?

(you may click on the underlined link to see that prayer and click on that link to return to here.)

The Rosary is compiled of Our Fathers, Hail Mary's and Glory Be's. It is contemplating the life of Our Lord and His Mother. To Begin you cross yourself with the Crucifix you say the Apostles Creed, you may ask for anything you may wish and if it be God's Holy Will you will obtain it. You say 1 Our Father for Divine Providence, 3 Hail Mary's for faith hope and love and then you begin the first mystery( There are three mysteries of the Rosary, the Joyful, the Sorrowful and the Glorious, one more was added by Pope John Paul II, the Luminous mysteries. These represent the Joyful times of Our Lord, The sorrowful times of Our Lord, The Glories times of Our Lord and the Luminous times of Our Lord) If you cannot say all of these mysteries, at least try and say one, it is very powerful.

You announce the first mystery, say one Our Father and ten Hail Mary's and then a Glory Be to the Father and while you are saying these prayers you are to meditate on that mystery, for example the first Joyful mystery-The Annunciation- God the Father sent the Archangel Gabriel to ask the Virgin Mary if she would be the Mother of God, she accepted, the Holy Spirit overshadowed her and she became pregnant with Jesus. Also, the Angel Gabriel told her to go visit her cousin Elizabeth who had been unable to conceive a child was now pregnant with John the Baptist, which leads into the next mystery the Visitation. After saying five mysteries end with the Hail Holy Queen.

In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

(we use to cross ourselves at least 33 times during Mass, how many times do you cross yourself now?)

An Act of Faith

O My God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Ghost; I believe that Thy Divine Son became man , and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.

An Act of Hope

O My God, relying on Thy infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of Thy grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

An Act of Love

O My God, I love Thee above all things, with my whole heart and soul, because Thou art all-good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

For the Holy Souls in Purgatory

(For your loved ones that have died)

On August 16, 1969 in San Damiano, Italy Our Lady asked that we pray very much for the poor souls and that if we pray these prayers "we will deliver so many souls, so many souls!" So please remember to pray for your loved ones that have crossed over the veil and for those that have no one to pray for them. Here is what you do. Pray 5 Apostle's Creed; 1 Hail, Holy Queen; 1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary; 1 Glory Be; 1 Requiem (Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, and may they rest in peace. Amen.

(Indulgenced by Pope Leo XIII march 22, 1902)

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead: He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty: from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen

The Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.

The Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee: Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. Amen

The St. Michael Prayer

(The prayer to defeat the work of Satan)

Should be said every day especially after daily mass

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host by the divine power of God cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who roam though out the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen

(Salve Regina)

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. (here strike your breast each time) O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Amen

Requiem

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, and may they rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph

(You may say this as a nine day novena)

O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplation you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach whole he reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls pray for me. Amen.

Imprimatur, Most Rev. George W. Ahr, Bishop of Trenton
